How are you? in Bosnian

kako ste?
phraseTaught in: Family & Greetings

kako ste? is how you say how are you? (polite/plural) in Bosnian.

How it's used

The polite/plural 'how are you' for people you address with Vi or a whole room. 'Kako si?' is the one-on-one version.

From the lesson: Introductions

When you meet older relatives, expect a cheek kiss (usually two or three, region-dependent) and 'čija si ti?', 'whose are you?', because in Bosnia you're identified by your family first. Being able to answer 'Ja sam [name], [dad's name] sin/kćerka' is social gold.
